I've never shoot with the Minolta Autopak D12 and finding one on Ebay is not common. I imagine it's a fine camera.
For $400 you should be able to find a nice camera.
I've seen the Canon 1014xls sell for that but it tends to sell for more.
The Canon 814xls is almost identical but has a shorter lens and could cost you a few hundred bucks less. Canon's are built like tanks and shoot wonderful pictures. Very dependable.
Nizo's are great cameras too but are fragile in my opinion. The lenses can be easily uncolminated from a simple jarring.
Best of luck.
Scott
ps, tell us what you decide on.

Thanks again to everyone for taking time to assist me in my camera research. Time will tell if I made a wise choice. I decided on, and bought a CANON 814 XLs. Good or bad I would love to hear what everyone thinks. I will follow up with results of a film test I plan to do when I receive the camera.
Thanks

I'll bet your camera test shows it to be a little beauty. An excellent choice, the Canons.

Let me know if you have any questions regarding the camera. I bought one that wasn't pretty looking but it can with 8 rolls of sound film and processing mailers for 400 last year and haven't regretted it since. I rarely shoot in the automatic aperature mode but when you need to bust a quick move no worries, that baby is dead accurate.
The camera works like a charm.

ps. One bit of advice, use a CHILDS TOOTHBRUSH to clean the gate BEFORE AND AFTER each roll of film. Don't use can air. The dust will only blow inside the camera and maybe land on the internal 85 filter.
Hope you got it for a reasonable price.

Nice choice.
The Canon 1014XL-S and 814XL-S are excellent cameras, and they use all the same accessories, so start looking for a Canon C-8 wide angle lens adapter!
Too bad that most S8 cameras are so noisy....
The Nizo 6080 isn't my favorite camera, but I now use it almost exclusively, because you can't hear it at 3 feet in a dead silent room!
...and yes, the Nikon R-10 is a great camera. Built much more solid than any other S8 camera I've seen or held. All metal, really, really solid, and the best glass!
It's the only one I've seen with an adjustable shutter too...

The Canons 1014 XL-S and 814 Xl-s have 150? and 220? shutters selectable. 150? is default.
The 1014Ehas even faster variable shutters down to 37.5?.

I have an absolutely mint C-8 wideangle adapter for sale, as I no longer have the camera, if you're interested. I posted it a couple of weeks ago, but I've still got it, and it's yours for ?70 (about $100) I'll even pay the postage. It is minty mint in plexiglass and a cardboard box which is even mint. Very cool thing!
